The Chafe 150 Gran Fondo route begins in Sandpoint, Idaho, (named "Most Beautiful Small Town in the USA,") and follows a grand loop around the Cabinet Mountains, a frontal range of the Rocky Mountains of Idaho and Montana—through gorgeous lake and river valleys.
The ride offers 3 distances to accomodate every level of rider: 150 mile loop, 80 mile route and 30 mile Piccolo Fondo Fun Ride!
CHAFE 150 is of moderate difficulty. The route has no mountain passes or sustained climbs. The two steepest climbs are out of Bonners Ferry and Troy. The 150 mile ride length is the biggest factor for inexperienced riders. Riding with a group becomes important when doing a one day ride of this distance. The 80 mile option offers similar terrain with a more manageable distance. The average grade ranges from 2.1 percent to 3.9 percent.
Chafe 150 is contributing the proceeds of the ride to the Lake Pend Oreille School District to assist students on the Autism spectrum and to fund college scholarships.
The ride features 7 rest stops, SAG support that includes bike mechanics and registered nurses, and fun after-ride party.
This event is staged by the Sandpoint Rotary Club to assist students in the Lake Pend Orielle School District on the autism spectrum.

The 80 Mile Ride Start is at 141 Lake Creek Road, Troy, Montana. Riders and their bikes will be bussed to Troy from City Beach in Sandpoint. Ride start in Montana is 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time/10:30 a.m. Mountain Time.
Sandpoint is in Pacific Time zone. Once you enter Montana you will be in Mountain Time Zone (one hour ahead).
Fundraising
Riders agree to raise a minimum of $50. This donation is separate from the registration fee and is easily raised through pledges. Riders may choose to make the donation themselves if they prefer not to fundraise.
