A Celebration of Cycling
Gran Fondo NJ offers five routes of increasing levels of challenge, from the extremely challenging Gran Fondo down to the relatively relaxed Breve Fondo. We were one of, if not the first, Gran Fondo to offer a Breve length route for those not up to the challenge of a longer route, but wanting to partake in the festive atmosphere of a Gran Fondo.
Our goal is for you to have fun, be challenged, and never have to look at a cue sheet during your ride. Each of our six rest stops is stocked with the usual fare you would expect on a challenging ride, and featured treats that will surprise you. With timing only on the hill climbs, we offer a serious athletic challenge for our competitive participants, with the ability to wait at the tops of the climbs for others in your group without worrying about "losing time".
A surprise to many, Gran Fondo NJ offers some of the most beautiful and challenging cycling terrain in the east. Our 62-mile Medio route was named by the editors of Bicycling Magazine to their list of "The 50 Best Rides in America."

More than a bike ride
Gran Fondo NJ is a full weekend of festivals, expos and other activities offering entertainment for the entire family culminating in the ride and post-ride celebrations. Along with raffles, great food, local shopping and our Kid’s Fondo there’s something for every member of the family. There is also an optional fundraising component to the event – it has been used by riders supporting local and national charities and has generated over $750,000 in donations since its inception.
Our Rest Stops
We take great pride the Rest Stops of Gran Fondo NJ. To help you through the day, we have lavish Rest Stops located approximately every 20 miles (or less) along the route. Our Breve Route has a Rest Stop at the half way point.
As you approach, you will be cheered in by our great volunteer staff who will pamper and encourage you during yor break. All Rest Stops feature a wide assortment of the foods and fuels you would expect on a long endurance ride, and a few surprises (cannolis, over-sized chocolate chip cookies, gelatos...) thrown in for good measure.
