It's just a hill - get over it.

Complete as many repeats of Hilton Hill as possible within 90 minutes.

Hilton isn’t a monster of a hill. But it’s not a slouch, either. It’s one that features on many weekly and local tour rides. It’s just over half a mile long, with an average grade of 4%.

It’s a nice, wide road with good sight lines and little traffic, making it great for repeat training. For this event, we close the road, making it even safer for our participants. And though one ride up the hill might not be super-challenging, 90 minutes of repeats is tough! Fortunately, the hill has an East/West orientation, with shelter from the normal usual south winds.

Medals for 10+, 15+, and 20+ climbs. Profit goes to supporting local athletes competing at national and international levels.

We’re everyday athletes. We’re not professionals. We don’t get sponsored. We don’t get paid for doing what we love. And yet we get out there and train hard to compete at the highest levels in our field. Our only goal: to be the best we can be.

The Hilton Hill Climb Challenge was setup to support everyday athletes competing at extraordinary levels.

Parking is located at: Freedom Elementary School, 9170 Freedom Rd, Sapulpa, OK 74066.

Extra Information

In 2014, five cyclists got together to do repeats of Hilton Hill, just outside of SE Tulsa, in the city of Sapulpa. They challenged themselves to ride up to 20 times, and they gathered pledges per climb up the hill.

They did this to raise funds for a local martial artist who was traveling to a world-level competition. Was that martial artist a cyclist? Nope. Then why’d they do it?

"Pretty simple, really. He was an athlete, just like the rest of us. We know what it’s like to try and compete at bigger and bigger events. The entry fees go up. Travel time increases. Travel costs, food, gear, support… it all adds up. He might not have been on a bike, but he was definitely one of us." ~Tony D.

In 2017, this small event grew, supporting not one athlete, but a team of five local who had made the U.S. National Kung Fu team, and were training hard to prepare themselves to travel to Emei, China, where they would compete against some 4,000 athletes from over 56 countries.

Now, the Hilton Hill Climb Challenge takes applications from local, non-professional athletes who are looking to compete at the national and international level. The sport doesn’t matter, only the drive to be the best they can. Profits from the event go to help offset those athletes costs.
