Conclude the traditional road cycling season with a classic ride under rural Pennsylvania’s iconic fall foliage organized by Kermesse Sport.

While the morning may feature cool crisp air, you’ll quickly warm-up as you tackle the hills of Montgomery County.

Read the 2015 ride report.

Upon your return you will arrive just in time for lunch and festivities at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Collegeville, PA, where you can not only reward yourself for a great ride, but for a fantastic season of riding.

It is an idea so obvious, we don’t know why someone hadn’t done this before…

Pennsylvania is an area rich in German heritage.  The landscape and terrain is similar to many areas of Germany, and our culture has been heavily influenced by it, as evidenced by the names of many communities throughout the state.  We enjoy our outdoors (Pennsylvania means Penn’s Woods), we enjoy our food, and who doesn’t like a party?

In this spirit we have created a celebration of the end of the traditional road cycling season with an Oktoberfest theme.

For 2015 two courses are being offered, taking the riders through the rural areas of Montgomery County.  In future editions we may add other distance options.

Following the ride, participants can celebrate their accomplishment back at Appalachian Brewing Company , where traditional German Style food and beverages will be provided. For 2015, much like the original Oktoberfest (replace the horses with bicycles), the event will focus on the ride and post-ride festivities, but as the event evolves into an annual tradition, additional attractions will be added.

And yes, we know the real Oktoberfest is mostly in September and the Oktoberfest Ride is in late October.  We just couldn’t make an earlier date fit our 2015 calendar…

Just for giggles, we are having a King/Queen of the Mountains Challenge as part of the Oktoberfest Ride.  All Oktoberfest Ride registrants are eligible to participate in this challenge, free of charge, if they use a GPS-enabled device or a smart phone, and upload the data via Strava.

This challenge is for personal satisfaction; it is not a race, and we are not presenting any awards or prizes, so the only thing up for grabs are bragging rights, fleeting admiration, ridicule, and accusations of cheating.

The Oktoberfest Ride features a Mass Start, so everyone starts together, regardless of the course you are riding.  As the event is not a start-to-finish race, it doesn’t matter what your starting position is.

However, to prevent as much interference as possible, we highly encourage beginner and slower riders to line up at the back of the group, and faster, more experienced riders to line up at the front, this way everyone will be able to ride their own pace unobstructed.
