Positive Spin

ENJOY 200KM AND 2400M OF CLIMBING AROUND CHILLIWACK, BC

Join the Positive Spin ride and you’ll explore the mountains, lakes, rivers and fields along the roadways of the Fraser Valley and Chilliwack. This ride is to promote Mental Health awareness and reduce the stigma associated with it.

There will be 3 routes on offer.

The epic route will be a 200km tour around the Chilliwack and Fraser Valley. The 160km and 100km routes will cover similar ground just with less distance!. 

These routes will not be marked! Make sure you know where you are going and follow the rules of the road you would on a normal ride. This is not a race, this is a fun ride meant to give back to the community and challenge yourself. Riding with a group is highly recommended.

The Positive Spin team will have at least one no-drop group ride per distance! Join us!

We will have several support cars that will travel along with the group, including a First Aid and mechanical car at the back. At each stop, we will provide some water and food, as well as an opportunity to take a break. Vehicles will also stop along the way to provide encouraging tunes!

A sweep vehicle will be driving the course. If you run into any problems out there, you won’t be left stranded!

Participant packages include a rudimentary map, cue sheet and t-shirt if you registered before May 31 and, of course, a cold beer from @oldyalebrewing at the end too!

The Cause

Mental illnesses affect everyone in some way. We all likely know someone who has experienced a mental illness at some point. We as cyclists have experienced it within our own community in devastating ways. Yet there are still many hurtful attitudes around mental illnesses that fuel stigma and discrimination and make it harder to reach out for help. It’s time to look at the facts and do something about it.

We are proud to let you know that this ride is about giving the absolute maximum to the Canadian Mental Health Association.  All of the donations will go directly to the CMHA and tax receipts will be provided for donations. All of the organizers are volunteers and costs have been kept to a minimum. We use your registration fee for things such as permits, posters, signage and food for the ride.

Any funds left over will be split between keeping a nest egg for next year’s event and donated.
