Texans expect great Texas bike rides and the Smokin' Spokes is a Texas ride that will leave you well-whipped with a smile on your face at the end of the day.

Smokin' Spokes is sponsored by the Salado Texas Volunteer Fire Department. Expect challenging hills, scenic views, a monster century, well-marked routes, well-manned rest stops, friendly event sponsors and a great feed at the end of the ride.

Rest stops are located at very scenic locations.  One is on the shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake.  Another is at the Overlook Park on top of  Stillhouse Hollow Dam.  One of the most scenic and serene settings is at the old Summer’s Mill.   Bring a camera...you’ll be glad you did!!  Rest stops are placed further apart in the first half of the routes and closer together in the back half to aid the rider's progress more effectively.

On the longer routes the BIG hills are in the first half of the route.   On the longer routes you’ll likely have a tailwind for the last 15 miles coming back in to Salado! Did we mention that most of that 15 miles is downhill??

Registration $45 on site.
