Sparks Lionheart Century

Northern Nevada's Premier Century Bike Ride

Northern Nevada has other century bike rides, but nothing like this one...

The Sparks Greenbrae Lions Club is proud to bring to Northern Nevada the Sparks Lionheart Century cycling event.  This road course event is designed to challenge even the most dedicated riders, with three demanding routes (a 35 mile route, a 60 mile route and a 100 mile route), starting in beautiful Sparks Nevada and winding through the picturesque Northern Nevada countryside.

The ride starts at Scheel's in Sparks. It heads NE to Spanish Springs, returns back through Sparks and navigates through downtown Reno. After passing through Reno the ride heads out to Verdi and back. After returning to Reno the ride travels along the western edge of the foothills and heads up Mt. Rose Highway, through St. James Village and back through SE Reno to Sheel's. 

The first two-thirds of the metric century mimics the Lionheart Century omitting the visit to the southern portion of Reno. The short 35-mile route is a tour of Sparks, Spanish Springs and a quick trip into Reno and back.

There are rest stops approximately every 25 miles. Each rest stop will have water and Gatorade, plus snacks, such as, orange slices, cookies, bananas, trail-mix and the like. We have received many positive responses for the quantity and variety of items at the stops.

Washoe County Ham Radio Operators are located at each rest stop and can contact SAG support. We also have members of the Radio Operators driving the course to provide assistance.

The Sparks Greenbrae Lions Club created this event to promote healthy outdoor activity, while engaging our community to serve others and raise funds to assist those in our community most in need.  All of the proceeds from this event stay in Northern Nevada to support the event and assist our neighbors who are less fortunate and in need... every penny!
