Tehachapi GranFondo Named Best Century...AGAIN!
Three years in a row, the Tehachapi GranFondo has been named Best Century in California by Cycle California! Magazine.
Enjoy the excitement that can only come from riding with hundreds of other participants in a mass-start event, in the beauty of the southern California mountains.
The signature route is a true Gran Fondo. This 104 mile ride will take participants up past the world famous Tehachapi Loop, through the rolling golden foothills, and into the forest heights. Finally ride along the towering wind turbines of eastern slope and back into town.
The MedioFondo is 86 miles, the PiccoloFondo Plus 60 miles, the Piccolo 38 miles and the FunFondo 18 miles.
So what makes the Tehachapi GranFondo so special? An interview with event organizer, Michelle Vance, uncovers a few secrets. “We place high importance on our road conditions, traffic control and rider support. This is easily seen by the amount of law enforcement and over 150 volunteers that help orchestrate our event.” Cyclists are not stopped frequently by traffic lights, in fact the 100 mile route has only two. And even better yet, we witnessed most other stop signs being patrolled by local law enforcement to help give riders the right-of-way.
Registration opens on February 1.
