It starts here with VeloSano 3.

It’s hard to believe that we’re already in our third year of VeloSano. In just two short years, we have raised nearly $5 million for cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. What an amazing accomplishment that would not have been possible without our fantastic supporters: tireless volunteers, generous donors, selfless corporate partners, and fearless riders, all including courageous examples of survivors.

My wife, Donna, and I are so grateful for the results of our sophomore year. Nearly 1,300 riders, over 900 volunteers and more than 18,500 gifts from every state and 25 countries totaling $3 million – all increases from our inaugural ride. And each and every person involved came together for a common purpose: to fight cancer, this terrible disease that unfortunately most of us know all too well.

It is these great numbers, which will hopefully continue to grow year over year that will allow us to make an impact. Science is expensive. Discoveries can be so huge, yet so small in the grand scheme of cancer. It takes so much to move the needle just a little bit. But you have to start somewhere, and VeloSano is showing us why this is so important. It’s for those who have been lost. It’s for those fighting the fight and providing them the strength and hope to carry on. It’s for those who are warriors and survivors. And it’s to light the way for future generations and a world without cancer.

VeloSano allows us to make a difference through an activity that we love. VeloSano 3 will incorporate many enhancements, including additional resources dedicated to the safety and enjoyment of our participants. We have also made a one-time date change this year, shifting to the final weekend of July, 29 – 31, necessitated by the Republican National Convention coming to Cleveland. We will return to the third full weekend in July for VeloSano 4 in 2017.

Another improvement me and my VeloSano Co-Chair Paul Dolan, CEO of the Cleveland Indians, are pleased to announce is that we’re being joined by John Saada, Partner at Jones Day. John personally and Jones Day organizationally have been tremendous partners of VeloSano since the beginning, and we are delighted to welcome John in this capacity as Co-Chair.

If you’ve been with us thus far, we hope you continue to be involved. And if you haven’t yet experienced VeloSano, we encourage you to do so.

It starts here. Bike to cure!
