VTMonster Gravel Grinder

Not for the faint of heart, the VTMonster Gravel Grinder is inspired by Velominati rules #5, #20 and #47.

Brought to you by the organization team of the infamous B2VT Ride (formally B2B), the VTMonster is a 73 mile, 9,000 vertical body pounding ride on dirt and gravel roads that will loosen your fillings and crush your legs.  There are some asphalt roads sprinkled in so that your fillings can reset themselves.  We suggest using your tongue to push them back in.

The VT Monster is best attacked with a Cyclocross bike though Road, Mountain or Fat Bikes are also capable of handling the course.

This is a challenging rolling course primarily on Vermont’s quiet dirt roads. Plenty of climbing, flowing descents and epic vistas. We’ll roll out of the Jackson Gore Lodge (Okemo Mountain) and head through downtown Ludlow, as the only urban experience on the ride. Just outside of town and about 2.5 miles in to the ride, the course makes a left and starts the first substantial climb of the day. From there the course is primarily on 70% gravel roads with very little flat terrain. There are a few unavoidable paved sections that you’ll find a relief and a short respite for recovery before the course turns up again.

You’ll be transported back in time to the Shrewsbury Co-op at Pierce’s Store, a General Store nestled in the North Shrewsbury mountains that seems unchanged from a 100 years ago. The course passes through North Shrewsbury twice and where we’ll have a fully stocked rest stop and anything else you might need will be available at the general store.

Each person has his/her own needs but at a minimum each person should bring:

• Cell Phone
• 2 spare tires/tubes
• Frame pump or C02
• Portable multi-tool
• Money
• License and credit card
• On course nutrition – Food/Drink

  Your ride fee includes:

• Parking, water bottle filling and last minute bike trouble shooting at start at Okemo
• One fully stocked rest stop on the course
• Limited on course mechanical support
• Post-ride party at Okemo Mountain Resort with hot showers, cold beer, delicious BBQ, Athletes Village and live music (friends/family are welcome!)
