Join us for the 16th annual Buffalo Bicycle Classic, Colorado's largest scholarship fundraising event.

We shut down a lane of Boulder Canyon just for you!

Our Buff Epic riders enjoy a 13.5 mile stretch up the canyon in a dedicated lane. The west-bound lane of the canyon is closed to cars, allowing BBC riders a private lane on the climb.

Fixie or Cannondale, there's a course for you

Riders choose a course from several options varying in length and difficulty, and ride at their own pace. All riders are welcome, E-bikes, trailers…Just make sure you wear a helmet!

The Buffalo Bicycle Classic supports over 50 resident students each year. These students come from all over the state, all show academic promise and exhibit profound financial need.

You'll find well-stocked and well-staffed aid stations throughout each route. Smiling faces, tasty eats, and a cowbell or two to keep your spirits up! If you need any assistance in between, flag down one of the support vehicles that are traveling the course.

Don't miss the event after the event! Stop by Benson Field and fill your belly with a tasty meal, drink a beer with your team, or enjoy a massage. There's free secure bike parking, so you can relax. Also at the finish line, we’ll be doing a drawing for several prizes and enjoying some live music.

Registration: $95 until June 10, $110 to August 1, then $125.

Choose the pledge package and pay just $35 to register. Plus, you'll get great BBC gear!

If you choose the pledge package, you commit to raising $265 in pledges from family, friends and coworkers by ride day. When you complete your registration, your credit card will only be charged $35. In your confirmation email, you will get a link to your personal pledge page. You can send this link to others or share it on Facebook.

In order to pick up your bib, pledgers must have raised a minimum of $85; to pick up merchandise, pledgers must have raised their fundraising minimum of $265.

The Buffalo Bicycle Classic dates back to 2003, having raised over 3 million dollars in support of student scholarships at CU Boulder. The students served by the BBC are some of Colorado’s brightest; each entering CU with over a 4.0 high school GPA. Our student scholars also demonstrate strong financial need, which makes this scholarship particularly important. Our $10,000 scholarship to these promising students makes higher education attainable. Through the generous support of our sponsors, volunteers and riders, we are able to make a difference in the lives of over 400 students in the last fourteen years.

The success of the BBC is in part due to lessons learned from the Bolder Bike Classic, a ride of the late 1990’s developed by Cliff Bosley under the Bolder Boulder umbrella of events. The event has grown over the years, not only in the dollars raised, or scholarships awarded, but also in the course itself. 

No matter your age, experience, or physical ability, we have a route for you! Enjoy the beautiful vistas Boulder has to offer, stop by one of our delicious aid stations, or climb Boulder Canyon in confidence thanks to the westbound lane closure. Whatever way you look at it, the Buffalo Bicycle Classic is a great event for a great cause.
