Malibu Gran Fondo

The Complete Cycling Experience.

Our world-class event, held in the beautiful and iconic city of Malibu, California, is an exclusive weekend designed to attract cyclists from around the world, showcasing our beautiful landscape and is well timed to take advantage of Southern California’s consistently good weather compared to early spring in much colder parts of the world.

The format of our weekend is the first of its kind. Participants will have the opportunity to Ride! in the Pro Experience Omnium format where two days’ rides are for cumulative time, or they may choose to ride either Saturday or Sunday as part of the more moderate, Social Experience.  From the California Coastline to National Park mountains, our two day event traverses a balanced mix of rolling terrain, agricultural farmland, fast and scenic coastline, and an epic climb to a summit finish in the Santa Monica Mountains. 

The weekend begins with a 151km timed, mass start Gran Fondo event on Saturday, with the start and finish at the world renowned and luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in the heart of Westlake Village.  The course offers up a balanced mix of rolling farmlands, flat and scenic Southern California Coastline and an epic climb with panoramic vistas atop the Santa Monica Mountains.

3 fully stocked, gourmet rest stops at 31km, 77km and 119km.  10 Speed Coffee will be on course for a final "hit" before the last climb, with additional water available at 134km.

The final miles of the Gran Fondo offer participants the added challenge of riding for King and Queen of the Mountain (KOM/QOM) times as they push toward the summit finish. 

The clock stops at the top of the mountain so riders can enjoy a neutralized descent back to a post ride luncheon in the gardens of the Four Seasons. 

For those who want the Complete Cycling Experience with a few less miles, there will be an option to omit the 41k farmland loop.  

Day 2 -  Pro Experience Time Trial or Recovery Ride

You can decide whether to seal the deal with the Race of Truth or flush out your legs from the previous day's effort!  Sunday’s 20km time trial course is point to point and will head due north on the world-famous Pacific Coast Highway, starting from Vintage Grocers, located at the newly remodeled Trancas Country Market in Malibu.  The course is rolling but fast and will test your legs following Saturday's 151k Gran Fondo.  Aero and non aero categories available.  Or you can opt for our 40k Group Recovery Ride and take in more of the scenery - either way, get out of bed, get on your bike, and revel in your accomplishment at the Awards Celebration.
